“I was born in the city (Buffalo, NY) and raised on a farm in western New York. It seems like I have always taken pictures. I got my first camera when I was about ten years old and still have some of the shots I took of my with the Baby Brownies. The camera is just a machine, but with it I have been able to explore and extend my vision. 

At first I looked only for what would make a “good” picture. With years of experience I found that the more I looked, the more I saw and came to realize that the possibility for images was limitless.  Those of people and events and scenes were soon supplemented with pictures of stone, wood, flower stems and other different lighted objects.

Lastly, I am increasingly realizing that with selective focus and framing I can extract a part of what is real that is only seen by myself.  I can not only take pictures, I can make them.  It is elegant that a bit of information can be shared with others as it is preserved on a canvas or mat or some other hard surface.”
